MPA

MPA, or Medroxyprogesterone acetate, is a synthetic derivative of progesterone, a naturally occurring steroid hormone. It is mainly used as a contraceptive in the form of depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) and as part of menopausal hormone therapy for the treatment of menopausal symptoms.

Mechanism of Action
MPA works by binding to and activating the progesterone receptor, thus inhibiting the secretion of gonadotropins, which in turn prevents follicular maturation and ovulation.
